Merrow, St John the Evangelist

Merrow, then a Winchester Diocesan Guild tower, now Guildford DG had one ringer identified as serving:

  • Arthur Henry Blake — Royal Naval Air Service, RNAS Kingsnorth [a general engineer in civilian life]

In early 1917 a group of ringers who all happened to be stationed at a nearby Royal Naval Air Station rang at Hoo St Werburgh for the wedding of Commander Dane, Royal Navy.

For information on the bells and ringers today, see the Guildford Diocesan Guild website.
