Ewhurst, St Peter & St Paul

Four ringers from St Peter and St Paul, Ewhurst are recorded as having served in the armed forces during the war.

  • J E Denyer — New Army. [Probably brother of W Denyer below].
  • Private W Denyer. [Probably brother of J E Denyer above].
  • Albert Francis — the Queen’s (Royal West Surrey Regiment).
  • Air Mechanic John Luff — Royal Naval Air Service.

Also originally from Ewhurst (where he learnt to ring) was Lieutenant John William Russell, recorded on the original roll as a Dorking ringer. Some more information on these men can be found in the “served and returned” page of the Ewhurst Fallen website.

Information on the bells and ringers today can be found via the Guildford Diocesan Guild website.
