Newdigate, St Peter

Not listed on the original roll, or so far found in contemporary ringing reports, research by John Callcut for his book A Village at War about the effect of the First World War on Newdigate uncovered two village ringers who served, one of whom was killed.

  • Corporal Arthur Henry Monk † Died of Wounds, 30 September 1916 — 7th Battalion, The Queen’s (Royal West Surrey Regiment).
  • George Horley — Royal Army Medical Corps.
